Art Director | São Paulo, Brazil
Tell us a little bit about your background?
I’m 24 years old. I was born in Santos, a small city in the coast of Brazil. I studied Multimidia Design at Senac. I live and work in São Paulo since 2007.

Your job and position at the moment?
I’m currently living in São Paulo, Brazil. I’m a Art Director at JWT Brazil.

Do you have any hobbies outside of digital art and computing?
I like to play soccer and go out with my friends. Go to my born town at the weekend. But I think that all my real hobbies are connected with my work, cinema, books, music and my experimental work.

What would you tell for those who want to be designers?
My advice is to try each day knowing more about yourself, the more you know about who you are, more individual and unique will be your work (and your life will be better too). Always believe in your dreams, is a cliche but is totally true. See a lot of images every day and always make experimental works. Be curious.

Where do you look for inspiration?
I always try to look references in other middles. For example if I create a website, trying to look for references in fashion, architecture, cinema, commercials. If I do a motion, I attempt to reference in paintings and other kind of art. I believe that working like this you have more chance to do something unique and original. Of course it varies from project to project.

Do you intend to stay living in Brazil?
Now I’m very happy here in Brazil. I listen a lot of good and bad things about work in another country. But I definitely want to have this experience one day. I hope in a good place and country.

Which are your dreams for the future apart from work?
Travel through several places in the world and still making good and special friends.

Which work is your favorite?
From the commercial projects I prefer the websites for Fiat Linea and Ford Edge. With this projects I had the opportunity to explore a lot of different skills and styles. From my experimental projects I like Maria da Graça and Stellar.

Your favorite professionals?
There are many guys that I admire and inspire me. James Widegren, Mato Atom, Matt Pike, Michael Paul Young, Kim Dulaney, Ramiro Torres, the guys from Pepper Melon, Psyop, Buck, Dvein and Prologue Films. From Brazil I can tell Nando Costa, Marcelo Garcia, Mariana Bukvic, my friends Atila Meireles, Vicente Silva, Fernando Bittar, Pedro Burneiko and my damned talent brother Daniel Semanas.

What are your plans for the future?
Try to be a better human and professional every day.

I really have a couple of styles of working, my highly rendered work is more influenced by traditional fine art, then theres a more commercial side that is favoured by the editorial, publishing, fashion market.

I got involved with illustration four years ago. I’m self-taught, I have no degree (or anything close to it), nor any professional training.

I try to do whimsical and abstract drawings. I think my style is a mish mash of the ways that effort ends up coming across.
