Graphic & Web Designer, Photographer | Buenos Aires, Argentina

Brief Resume
I begun studing graphic design in 1995 in the Universidad de Buenos Aires and, at the same time, I had my first contact with the World Wide Web as I was contracted to develop teaching material for an Internet seminar. So my apprenticeship in graphic and in web design were both in parallel, at university I learned about graphic design and then I spent my free time applying those skills to web site development and user interface design by my own.

As my university studies advanced I started experimenting alternative ways of visual communication. I was sure that graphic design wasn´t only useful for companies to sale more but also it could be used with a social and ideologic conscience. As Tibor Kalman would say “money isn´t everything”. So I gather together with some other designers and communicators and worked on a magazine project called “DíceseDe”. We used monothematic issues as an excuse to analyze Argentina´s social, cultural and political reality, trying to approach each topic from different parallel points of view.

During year 2000, I experimented with photography in an intuitive and personal way to complementary my graphic design before undertaking some photography courses. Since then I have never stoped taking pictures, but what I like the most is to visually register the people and places I see while I´m traveling, another one of my big passions.

At the begining of 2002, after having worked in NetMinds New Media Group for about 5 years, I started dedicating myself to design as a freelancer. Now I´m currently working with agencies and companies from around the world including the USA, Canada, UK, Spain, Italy among others.

Projects
As I told you before I´ve been working for about 5 years in and argentinian new media company called NetMinds New Media Group and then with many agencies all around the world. Now for example I´m working in a Sony website for Latinamerica and doing some jobs for J3 Advertising (USA) and Pyromedia Studios (USA) among others. In the past I´ve done jobs for JVC Futurevision (UK), Nick Hall (UK singer and musician), Media8 Marketing (USA), Monterey Mushrooms (USA), Drop (Italy), among others. I´m looking forward to work on a travel photography project… I hope that something may come through soon.

Inspiration
I remember solving whole projects during the almost 45 minutes bus trips from my home to university and viceversa. I think it was because I was forced to stay seated (or sometimes standing) without anything else to do but watch all the people/images/situations that happened in front of my eyes. Many of those situations triggered in my mind solutions to things I couldn´t solve having spent lots of hours in front of my computer.

I really have a couple of styles of working, my highly rendered work is more influenced by traditional fine art, then theres a more commercial side that is favoured by the editorial, publishing, fashion market.

I got involved with illustration four years ago. I’m self-taught, I have no degree (or anything close to it), nor any professional training.

I try to do whimsical and abstract drawings. I think my style is a mish mash of the ways that effort ends up coming across.
