Graphic Designer Student | Los Angeles

Brief Resume
Unlike most designers, I didn’t draw in my childhood. I wasn’t even interested in design either until 2 years ago. I was one of those who don’t know where to go and what to do for my life. After I got in a community college in LA, I changed my major several times, seeking for what I wanted to do. When I was at a loss in my life, I happened to see a TV commercial of my current school, The Art Institute of California, Los Angeles. Then, I started getting interested in design and decided to transfer to this school. After I took some classes at school, I deeply fell in love with design. Ever since then, I’ve kept creating things all the time.

As far as my working experiences are concerned, I’ve never worked for anybody yet. Although sometimes, I get contacted by some people through my web-site and get some job offers, unfortunately I’m not supposed to take those job offers since I’m an international student and not allowed to work legally in the U.S. Currently, I’m looking for a company where I can do my internship. Doing internship programs are the only way I can get working experiences while I’m a student here. Please contact me if you are interested!!

Projects
I’ve just started working on a project that I’m going to submit to Bonaparte magazine. I’ve got contacted by an editor there and was asked to submit my work if I’m interested. I’m hoping that they will choose my project for their next issue. Also, I have a lot of ideas in my head for my personal projects. I’ll try to get them done one by one.

Inspiration
EI find inspiration from almost everything in life, from whatever I see, smell, hear, touch and feel. There are too many to list - friends, students in my school, students who left my school, art bookstores, hardware stores, art supplies stores, beach, nature, social issues, art galleries, animals, insects, emotion, dreams, different cultures, graffiti, quiet coffee shops, libraries, rules, garbage, and the list goes on and on.

Interview done by Flavio Monteiro for UAILAB

I really have a couple of styles of working, my highly rendered work is more influenced by traditional fine art, then theres a more commercial side that is favoured by the editorial, publishing, fashion market.

I got involved with illustration four years ago. I’m self-taught, I have no degree (or anything close to it), nor any professional training.

I try to do whimsical and abstract drawings. I think my style is a mish mash of the ways that effort ends up coming across.
