Art Director, Valve | Finland, Helsinki

Brief Resume
I started drawing and painting at quite young age. Since 6 years old I’ve been very atracted by colors, shapes and drawings. After high school it really started to happen, when I found my way to fine art school. Living and studing together with other young people who had same interests, really gave me new perspective in my early years.

Few years later I started studing in Lahti Institue of Design (Finland) / department of graphic Design. That was excellent place to study illustrations and graphic design. During these years (thanks to College and lovely people around me) I learned a lot valuable things in visual communication. Within my student years I also did 6 months exchance in London college of Printing (LCP) and 6 months of work experience at Sodium Design in London, where I was working as a graphic designer / assistant.
I eventually graduated in 1999 when I started to work as full time graphic designer.

Nowadays my portfolio shows a selection of work produced from many years of experience working both individually and for the companies. At the moment I am working as an Art Director in Valve ( http://www.valvegroup.com )

Projects
Most of my projects have been printworks, Identities, posters, flyers, magazines etc. I guess I get out the best quality if the project when it’s ivnolving with illustrations and new indentity. During the last 2 years
I’ve been dealing more with animations and interactive graphics.

Inspiration
Traveling is definetly number one. there are probably nothing better in this world than exploring this planet with your good mates. I love to go somewhere abroad where I’ve never been before. getting to know new
cultures and new people is always exciting. Nature of Brazil and the oceans of Thailand showed me something I’ll never forget. Photography and smooth’n tasty house music are also on my favourite menu.

I really have a couple of styles of working, my highly rendered work is more influenced by traditional fine art, then theres a more commercial side that is favoured by the editorial, publishing, fashion market.

I got involved with illustration four years ago. I’m self-taught, I have no degree (or anything close to it), nor any professional training.

I try to do whimsical and abstract drawings. I think my style is a mish mash of the ways that effort ends up coming across.
