Tell us about your background?
I am half Spanish half English which means I have a odd English sense of humour mixed with a bit of Spanish passion. I spent most of my early life drawing and experimenting on my old computer (amiga 500) which gave me an early introduction to drawing with computers. At the age of 18 I went to Art school in the dark and run down city called Hull which is also in the north of England. It was very dark and very cold but to make up for it the beer was very cheap. I studied painting at Hull and produced some large scale paintings of cities, I took my inspiration from many drawings I did on the streets and from the top of buildings in Manchester and Hull.
After Art School I did a Masters degree in 3d animation where I learnt the basics of 3d modelling and animation on SoftImage and found with time that 3D animation and modelling wasn’t something I wanted to do any more, so once again I picked up my pencils and started drawing.
I now live in London with my Argentinean girl friend. I have many friend in London who are working hard to do creative things like animation art and illustration and hopefully get paid for it.
Since moving to London I have worked as a web designer but left the job to pursue my own work and I now work as a freelance illustrator and animator for companies all over the world.
How would you explain your style of illustration?
My style is a chaotic mixture of cowboys and Indians who should possibly stop smoking the funny cigarettes. Its my wacky world where I express my thoughts in the form of odd looking characters with guns.
Its space but not as we know it. some times its dumb, some times its fun.

I really have a couple of styles of working, my highly rendered work is more influenced by traditional fine art, then theres a more commercial side that is favoured by the editorial, publishing, fashion market.
I got involved with illustration four years ago. I’m self-taught, I have no degree (or anything close to it), nor any professional training.
I try to do whimsical and abstract drawings. I think my style is a mish mash of the ways that effort ends up coming across.

My name is Emma Geary aka Anarkitty. I am 30 years old and I live just outside of Belfast Northern Ireland. I have loved drawing since I was pretty young. Went to University and did a Ba(Hons) Degree in Art and design specialising in New Media.
