Illustrator, Graphic Designer | Rome, Italy

Tell us about your background?
I was born and live in Rome, a city which poetically mixes classical art with urban degradation. I grew up absorbed, on the one hand, by the formal perfection of monuments and, on the other, by the solitude and mental insanity of the suburbs.
I think that deep down these two opposing elements are at the basis of what I try to do.
I studied, and have a great passion for art, and perhaps I am overly related to the figurative art of the early 900’s seeing that I cannot conceive an illustration without the presence of human forms in their most interior aspects.

How would you explain your style of illustration?
I have no idea. I am inspired by a variety of illustrations from the network but my style is still in a phase of evolution. My main goal is, in fact, that of fully reaching a “unique” style but I think it will still take some time.
I can tell you what I “would” like my style to be: it should evoke emotion rather than simply estetic beauty. it should represent to some extent the alienation, unsatisfaction and nevrosis of modern man. I am fascinated by the human mind and I believe that visual art is a means to represent it in the best way possible.

What programs do you use to create your illustrations?
I would like to almost completely abolish programs from my works, and create only hand drawn illustrations. Presently almost all my illustrations start off as hand drawings, then depending on how I imagine the final product, I draw them using different programs. I regularly use flash, photoshop, illustator; I really don’t like this last program because a simple opertion takes requires too many steps. I prefer flash and photoshop which permit the use of brushes simulating the extemporaneousness painting without having to think about filling in a form.
I use photoshop to work on colors and modify them simultaneously with the preview.
